Laser Hair Removal in Stockholm

Laser hair removal in Stockholm should not mean guessing your way through a system in a language you have not learned yet. At Laserklinikcenter on Upplandsgatan our staff work in English every day, treating newcomers, students and long-term residents alongside our Swedish clients. We use three different laser wavelengths so that almost every skin tone and hair type can be treated, with every price published upfront from 800 SEK per session.

How laser hair removal actually works

The laser targets the pigment inside the hair follicle. That light energy is absorbed and converted into heat, which damages the follicle so it can no longer produce hair. Follicles are only receptive during one phase of their growth cycle, so no single session reaches all of them — a course of 6–10 sessions a few weeks apart is what produces a full result.

Because the laser is looking for pigment, it works best on dark hair. Very light blonde, grey and red hair respond less well, and you will be told that at your consultation rather than after you have paid for a course. In Swedish you will see the treatment advertised as permanent hårborttagning, which is the same thing.

Three laser wavelengths, one for every skin type

Skin tones vary, and so does the laser setting that suits them. Rather than fitting every client to one machine, we work with three wavelengths and choose the one that matches your skin tone and hair type.

All three have built-in cooling, which protects the skin and keeps the session gentle — most people describe it as close to painless. It also means almost every skin type can be treated here, which is worth checking wherever you book, since a clinic with only one wavelength is more limited in who it can treat.

  • 755 nm Alexandrite — most effective on lighter skin with dark hair. High energy absorption in the pigment means fast progress on large areas such as legs and arms.
  • 808 nm Diode — the versatile workhorse. A balanced wavelength that suits most skin types and hair textures.
  • 1064 nm Nd:YAG — the safe choice for darker skin tones. A longer wavelength that reaches deep without acting on surface pigment in the skin.

Why English speakers in Stockholm choose Laserklinikcenter

Private aesthetic clinics in Sweden sit outside the public healthcare system, which catches out a lot of people who have just arrived. You book your own appointment and you pay per session at the published price — there is nothing to apply for first.

Laser hair removal in Stockholm is easy enough to find. Being properly understood while you have it is the part that matters, especially when you are being asked about medication, sun exposure and skin history. If you are booking more than one thing, we also offer lip fillers and teeth whitening with the same English-speaking team.

  • English-speaking staff for the consultation, the treatment itself and any questions afterwards.
  • Registered with IVO, the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate that supervises care providers in Sweden.
  • Patient insurance held with Folksam.
  • More than 11 years in operation and over 25,000 treatments carried out.
  • Published prices in SEK for every area, so you know what a session costs before you walk in.
  • Intimate areas treated discreetly in a private room.
  • Central address at Upplandsgatan 19A in Vasastan. Open Monday to Friday 10–18, weekends 11–17.

What happens at your appointment

Appointments are booked online through Bokadirekt and you pick the time yourself. There is a little preparation to do beforehand.

On the day we go through your skin type, hair colour and the area to be treated so the settings can be matched to you. The skin is cleaned, a cooling gel is applied, and the laser is then worked across the area section by section. You feel quick pulses of heat, rather like a light flick of an elastic band against the skin. Session lengths follow the area: 15 minutes for underarms or the bikini line, 20 for the full face, 25 for lower legs, 40 for full legs and 60 for a full body appointment.

  • Shave the area 1–2 days before. Do not wax or pluck — the follicle has to be there for the laser to find.
  • Avoid sun and sunbeds for 2–4 weeks beforehand.
  • Arrive with no cream, deodorant or make-up on the area.

Aftercare and the weeks that follow

The hair does not vanish on the treatment couch. It usually stays put for a few days and then sheds over the following one to three weeks, which is part of the process rather than a sign that something has gone wrong.

Treated follicles stop producing hair permanently, which is why the honest description is permanent reduction rather than a promise that no hair will ever appear again. The occasional fine hair can return, and that is what the annual top-up is for.

  • Keep the area out of the sun for two weeks and use SPF 50.
  • Skip the sauna, hard training and hot baths for the first 24 hours.
  • Mild redness and swelling around the follicles is the usual reaction and settles within a few hours to a few days.
  • Once your course is complete, a maintenance session roughly once a year keeps on top of any regrowth, since hormonal changes can wake up the odd new follicle.

Side effects, and when we ask you to wait

Serious reactions are very unusual when treatment is carried out with the right equipment by trained staff. There are still situations where we will postpone.

Your skin, any medication you take and your own circumstances are all reviewed at the consultation, and the assessment is always individual.

  • We do not treat over tattoos or dark moles — they are covered or worked around to avoid a burn.
  • Treatment is postponed during pregnancy, with an active infection or broken skin in the area, and after heavy sun or sunbed use.
  • Areas close to the eyes and mucous membranes are not treated.
  • If your work keeps you in the sun for long stretches, plan your course for a period with less sun exposure.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you speak English at the clinic?

Yes. Our staff speak English, and the consultation, the treatment and any follow-up questions can all be handled in English. You do not need any Swedish to book with us or to be treated here.

How much does laser hair removal cost in Stockholm?

At our clinic prices start at 800 SEK for the nape of the neck. Underarms and the bikini line are 1,640 SEK, full legs 2,360 SEK, and a full body session is currently 3,550 SEK instead of the regular 7,100 SEK. Every price is per session.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most people describe a light stinging or warmth, often compared to an elastic band flicking against the skin. The built-in cooling in the lasers takes the edge off. Underarms and the bikini area are more sensitive than legs and arms.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually 6–10 sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Hair follicles are only receptive during one phase of their growth cycle, so repeated sessions are needed to catch them all. The exact number depends on the area, your hair and your skin, which we go through at your consultation.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Treated follicles stop producing hair permanently, so the result is a permanent reduction. The occasional fine hair can still appear later, particularly after hormonal changes, which is why a maintenance session about once a year is recommended after your course is finished.

Does laser hair removal work on dark skin?

Yes — that is precisely what the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser is for. Its longer wavelength reaches the follicle without acting on the pigment at the surface of the skin, which makes it the appropriate choice for darker skin tones. Your skin is assessed before we begin.

What is the difference between laser and IPL or a home device?

Home devices are usually IPL and, for safety reasons, run at much lower energy. The effect is more superficial, more sessions are needed and the reduction is often temporary rather than lasting. A medical laser at a clinic reaches energy levels a home device never will.

How should I prepare for my first session?

Shave the area one to two days beforehand, and do not wax or pluck — the follicle needs to be in place for the laser to find it. Avoid sun and sunbeds for two to four weeks before, and arrive with no cream, deodorant or make-up on the area.

Can men have laser hair removal too?

Yes, and the same areas and wavelengths apply. Upper body, back, neck, stomach and face are all treated. A full back is 2,310 SEK and an upper body session 3,900 SEK.

Can I book without a Swedish personal number or BankID?

Yes. Booking goes through Bokadirekt and only asks for your name, email address and phone number — no personal identity number and no BankID. You pay at the clinic after the treatment, and we accept foreign Visa and Mastercard as well as Swish.
